In the wake of raising concerns over the precautions taken by the frontline workers like doctors, nurses and police officials, A 37-year-old constable working at Kuslumpura police station in the city succumbed to coronavirus on Wednesday night at Gandhi Hospital.
Happened to be the first corona death in the department, the 37-year-old Dayakar Reddy from Nalgonda who is serving as a constable was declared dead around 10.30 PM which set ripples in the police circles that shared duties with him. The constable who is rendering services at the check post near Puranapul junction from the past 15 days, fell sick and was tested positive recently.
While the official suspected the constable to contract the infection during his Checkpost duty, the primary and secondary contacts of the deceased are now being traced. It was learnt that he has been attending the work despite fever over the last 15days and he reported to the police station seeking help on Sunday. He is survived by a wife and three children and all of them have been tested negative for coronavirus.
