Known to be one of the great places amidst the buzzy metropolis, Necklace Road is well-noted for its best views of the city with restaurants, recreational facilities and lush green gardens. Inheriting its name from the way the road curves around Hyderabad’s Tank Bund-resembling a beautiful necklace, Necklace Road is one of the many recreational areas.
This landmark which connects NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park in Hyderabad to Sanjeevaiah Park in Secunderabad will soon lose its name which is in usage from decades. In the line of the recent decision taken by the Telangana state government, Necklace Road will be soon renamed as ‘PV Gnana Marg’ after the name of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.
In a review meeting presided by Chief Minister KCR on Friday, the state government resolved to set up PV Memorial in Hyderabad in the view of PV Narasimha Rao’s centenary celebrations. KCR also stated that a resolution demanding the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna will be passed in the next assembly sessions.
