Further complicating the rescue operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and GHMC’s disaster management teams to relocate the people from low lying areas, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places over Hyderabad until October 21.
The district authorities have issued an orange alert in Hyderabad as heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to hit parts in Telangana. While over 37,409 families have been adversely effected across the city, the fresh lash of rains are expected to further complicate the rescue operations.
According to an advisory, flooding and waterlogging are expected in many parts of low-lying areas in districts of Telangana. People in the affected areas have been advised to restrict their movement in view of the heavy rainfall prediction. As per the official data, in Hyderabad alone, 50 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents while various unofficial reports claim more fatalities.
