Very few of us know the fact that late B.R. Ambedkar has made a proposal to make Hyderabad as the second capital of the country in his book, ‘Thoughts on the Linguistic States’, published in 1955. Bringing this back to the limelight, a few of the BJP leaders elevated the perks of having the pearl city as to country’s capital. This time it was the former Union minister and governor CH Vidyasagar Rao who stated that Hyderabad has all the necessary criteria to be a capital.
Amidst the plummeting air quality index with the toxic smog hovering in the nation’s capital, the BJP senior leader’s comments took prominence. ‘There are plenty of valid reasons to make Hyderabad a second capital. Air pollution in the nation’s capital Delhi is in dangerous levels panicking the people to visit the place,” he added. Vidyasagar is not only one of the senior leaders in BJP but also has a close affiliation with Modi-Shah duo, which is one of the reason’s Modi opted Vidyasagar as the Governor of Maharashtra after coming into power. Though it was still speculation, a statement coming from one of such prominent person in BJP might have a wee chance of turning true.
If this turns out to be true, then BJP would play a key role in bridging the gap between the north-south divide and can increase its hold in South India.
