Former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has been making satirical tweets targeting the government. One of his latest tweets is going viral. In this tweet, Vishweshwar Reddy bashed the government explaining the huge increase in pollution in Hyderabad city.
According to a survey conducted by IQ Air, Hyderabad is the fourth most polluted city in India and the top place in the southern states. IQ Air reports that levels in the city will increase from 34.7 ug / m3 in 2020 to 39.4 ug / m3 in 2021. The survey covered 6,475 cities across 117 countries. In this list, India topped the list in pollution.
Environmentalists say that the government keeps boasting about the growing greenery in the city, but in reality, things are very different. This survey makes it clear that the government is not being able to prevent pollution as much as expected in Hyderabad. Questions like “Will I have to wear a mask at home like in Delhi in the coming days?” are surfacing on the Internet. Netizens are expressing serious concerns over the aspect. It was in this context that Konda Veshweshwar Reddy tweeted questioning the government.
He said STPs set up to treat sewage were not functioning at capacity. He explained that all the ponds in the city were filled with the sewage water. He added that the 4,000 toilets set up during the GHMC elections disappeared. Vishweshwar Reddy also said that pollution from industries has not reduced.
Some netizens who are responding to his tweet are still suggesting that the Telangana government and GHMC should keep their eyes open. There are comments where people are coming together saying that they will not let Hyderabad become another Delhi. In fact, the number of vehicles in the city has increased tremendously. In addition, those motor vehicles that are beyond their life (according to the govt) are being used indiscriminately. In addition, toxic gases emitted from factories are added. Environmentalists say it is in this context that Bhagyanagaram (Hyderabad) is getting trapped in the abyss of pollution.
