While the India Meteorological Department(IMD) issuing Yellow alert for Hyderabad amidst the heavy rain batter under the influence of deep depression in Bay Of Bengal, Telangana government on Wednesday declared a two-day holiday until Thursday for all public and private institutions.

VC Sajjanar, commissioner of police has issued a statutory warning to the public requesting citizen to not step outside as rainfall is likely to continue for the next 24 hours. “Contact our control room helpline- 9490617444 in case of any emergency. Our teams are equipped to tackle the situation,” he stated.

Meanwhile, with heavy rains are expected in Vikarabad, Siddipet and Jalgaon districts of Telangana, police teams and personnel of Disaster Response Force (DRF) of GHMC and NDRF evacuated several families from the respective districts.
Meanwhile, the city lost 13 lives in various rain-related accidents while four others were critically injured. The dead also includes a 2-month-old infant. Nine among the 13 died in after a compound wall collapsed and fell on ten houses due to heavy rain late last night.
Life was thrown out of gear as over 24 hours of incessant rainfall left roads waterlogged and low-lying areas inundated. Several low-lying areas in Begum Bazar, Khairatabad, Begumpet, Tolichowki, Shaikpet, Mehdipatnam, Cherlapally, Mallapur, Moula Ali were completely submerged.
