He alleged that the staff checked the items bought by his wife but not the customers who bought the items before and after them.
In the tweet, the victim stated that the reason behind this was only caste discrimination and the supervisory staff also supported this action. Ikea responded to accusations of racism proclaiming that they strictly condemn prejudice, including racism. Ikea said they believe equality is a human right at stores. They further said that they are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the customer. The store further assured that customers will no longer face any hassles related to charging twice and scanning products again and again.
Minister KTR responded to comments that racial discrimination took place in the Ikea store in Hyderabad. He called the incident, ‘appalling and unacceptable. He suggested the IKEA store ask for forgiveness. KTR in his tweet wrote that the store must train their staff on how to deal with customers who come to their store and how to behave with them. Ikea stores tweeted that they would do well to change their approach.
