While the corona terror continued to loom India, the country on Thursday registered 81,484 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally near the 6.4-million mark.
According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, the Indian states and union territories logged 1,096 fatalities in 24 hours, while the country’s death toll reached 99,804, an inch less than 1 lakh-mark.
The total cases include 9,42,217 active cases, 53,52,078 cured/discharged/migrated & 99,773 deaths, confirmed Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. On the other hand, Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with more than 14 lakh confirmed cases so far, of which over 37,000 are deaths and nearly 2.6 lakh are active cases.

Followed by which, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh continued to top the chart of the worst-hit states by the outbreak. The Covid-19 count in Andhra Pradesh crossed the 7-lakh mark and stood at 7,00,235 with 6,751 new cases reported in the last 24 hours ending Thursday 9 am. The Covid toll rose to 5,869 with 41 more fatalities. At present, the number of active cases in the State is 57,858.
Telangana’s total tally of infections rose to 1, 93,600 with 2,214 new cases, according to a state government bulletin released on October 1. The death toll rose to 1,135 with eight more fatalities.
