Recording the lowest number of new coronavirus infections in the country since mid-July, India on Tuesday logged 36,370 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day. The total tally rose to 79.46 lakh which includes 6,25,857 people who were being treated for the disease and 72,01,070 who had recovered.
According to the Health Ministry data, some 488 people died because of the coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 1,19,502. The death count has remained about 1.5 per cent since September. Pithing the recovery rate past the 90 per cent mark while ICMR claims that India has been testing an average of 8-9 lakh people every day for the past month.

Telangana reported 837 new COVID-19 cases taking the overall tally to 2,32,671 while four more deaths pushed the toll to 1,315, the state government said on Tuesday. As many as 17,890 are under treatment and 21,099 samples were tested on October 26. Andhra Pradesh on Monday as it added just 1,901 fresh positives, the lowest in more than three months while 19 more succumbed on the last 24 hours.
