While the country continued to report a steady decline in its daily coronavirus infections after reaching a peak of about 90,000 cases a day in September, India’s tally crossed 78 lakh with a jump of 53,370 cases in the last 24 hours.
According to the official date from the union health department, India logged 650 deaths in the last 24 hours have pushed the total death count to 1,17,956. While the total caseload is at 7,814,682, the recovery rate surged to 89.78 per cent on Saturday with 70,16,046 people recovering so far. Total active cases are 6,80,680 after a decrease of 14,829 in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported 3,765 cases of the novel coronavirus as of Friday, taking its tally past the 8-lakh mark. 20 more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the statewide Covid death toll to 6,544. Telangana, on the other hand, reported five deaths & 1,273 new COVID-19 cases by Saturday. Total no of cases mounts to 2,30,274 of which 19,937 are active and the death toll raised to 1,303.
