With the Indian states and union territories registering 89,706 new positive cases, the total caseload of the country reached the alarming 4.3 million-mark by Wednesday.
According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, India now has 43,70,129 active cases while Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu continued to register the highest number of cases.
On the other hand, the corona deaths continued to spurt with 1,115 fatalities from the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 73,890. As the official data confirms 33,98,845 cured/discharged/migrated so far, as the country’s recovery rate increased to 77.65 per cent by Wednesday.

Of the total cases registered so far, 8,97,394 people are currently undergoing treatment. A total of 5,18,04,677 samples tested up to September 8 while 11,54,549 samples were tested on Tuesday, says Indian Council of Medical Research.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh was back to over 10,000 new cases on Tuesday. With 10,601 new infections, the tally rose to 5,17,094; the toll mounted with 73 new deaths. Telangana has reported 2,479 coronavirus positive cases and 2,485 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
The total number of confirmed cases in the state is 1,47,642 while the total number of recoveries is 1,15,072. With 10 new deaths due to the virus, the number of fatalities touched 916.
