As all the main cities in the nation are inching towards self-imposed lockdown, India on Monday hit the highest single-day spike with 49,931 new positive cases across the states. According to the recent health bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry, the total caseload of the country now stands at 14,35,453.
While Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat continued to record peak cases, the total death toll in the country raised to 32,771 so far with 708 new fatalities registered. In a shocking data reported by the health officials, the total cases grew by 28% and the death toll jumped by 19% from the past week.
Officials also confirmed that 4,85,114 active cases are on count across the country while 9,17,568 cured/discharged/migrated so far. The total number of Covid-19 samples tested up to 26th July is 1,68,06,803 including 5,15,472 samples tested yesterday, stated ICMR.
Andhra Pradesh, on the hand, reported more than 7,000 cases in a day with the tally inched towards 90,000-mark by Sunday. In Telangana, 1,593 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths were reported, taking the tally to 54,059 and the toll to 463 so far.
