In the wake of anti-CAA protests across the country, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday stated that India has always come first for Congress. Taking to the flag hoisting event at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on the occasion of 135th foundation day of the party, Sonia said that sacrifice for the nation stands above all else for the party. Accompanied by the senior party leaders like Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, Motilal Vohra and Anand Sharma, Sonia distributed sweets to children present at the event.

Many of the Congress leaders took to their official Twitter handle to mark the occasion acknowledging selfless sacrifices right from the party’s inception. Leaders and activists held peaceful rallies in all major cities across the country. AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi joins the Foundation Day celebrations in Uttar Pradesh while Rahul Gandhi took to the rally in Assam’s Guwahati to rage against Modi-led government.
