While the global tally from the new coronavirus has surpassed 23.7 million on Wednesday, India, the third worst-hit nation raced past the 3.2 million positive cases mark.
With 67,151 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus tally in the country stands at 32,34,475. As per the latest figures released by the Union Health Ministry, India by Sunday registered 1,059 new fatalities while the total death 59,449, inching towards 60 K mark.
The Indian state and union territories now have 7,07,267 active cases while more than 24,67,759 lakh people have recovered from the infection. With Positivity Rate progressively falling, testing has worked as an effective tool to limit the spread of COVID-19 infection, stated the Ministry of Health.
According to the fresh data furnished by the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to 25th August is 3,76,51,512 including 8,23,992 samples tested yesterday.
Meanwhile, Corona continued to expand its wings on Telugu states. With 3018 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, Telangana now has 1,11,688 cases. The toll stands at 780 with 10 additional casualties.
In Andhra Pradesh, the positivity rate jumped past 11 per cent in Andhra Pradesh as close to 10,000 fresh cases were reported, taking the overall tally to 3,71,639 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, over 23 million people have been infected with the novel coronavirus across the world, including over eight lakh who succumbed.
