Taking its wildest form so far, India on Friday registered 55,079 new coronavirus cases, the highest single-day spike recorded so far. Danger bells ring as the country touched the 16 lakh positive cases-mark across the states.
According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, the total caseload is not at 1,668,870 while the death toll rose to 35,747 with 779 new fatalities in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected state at over 4 lakh cases.
States like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have been registering a sudden spike in cases from the past few days.
The total number of Covid-19 samples tested up to 30th July is 1,88,32,970 including 6,42,588 samples tested yesterday, confirmed Indian Council of Medical Research.
While the health officials claim to record a steady increase in recovery rate, 10,57,806 people were reportedly cured/discharged/migrated so far.
On the global front, over 17.2 million people have been infected with the novel coronavirus, with 671,983 deaths so far.
