Besides his smashing bowling stint claiming three wickets of England as they post 53/3 at Stumps, Ravichandran Ashwin on Monday helped India display clear dominance with his smashing century. The 34-year-old scored 106 runs off 148 deliveries. His knock also consisted of 14 fours and a six.
On Day-3 of the match against England in his home town at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Ashwin capped off a scintillating display with the bat to bring up his fifth Test century after edging a Moeen Ali delivery towards the third-man boundary.

With which, one of the greatest spin bowlers of all-time surpassed the likes of Gary Sobers, Jacques Kallis, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushtaq Mohammad to achieve a fifer and a century. Interestingly, Ashwin also became the second Tamil Nadu player to score a Test century at Chepauk after Krisnamachari Srikkanth, who had smashed 123 runs against Pakistan in 1986/87.
Reminding Mr Vaughan that the century was hit on the same pitch, Twitter was flooded with memes and congratulatory messages lauding Ashwin, the star of the match.
