In the wake of repeated attacks on health care workers and protests staged by various doctor association, tensions ran high as 50 medical staff including doctor turning positive to the novel Coronavirus. According to the sources from the health ministry, the number of doctors turning positive to Coronavirus is increasing which has become a new concern in the medical community.
The officials stated that the department is all busy tracing the contacts of people who came into contact with the infected doctors including the patient they have treated so far. Talking over the same one of the health official said- “Over 50 cases of medical staff have tested positive so far. But not all got it from patients they were treating. It was observed that a few of the doctors had a recent travel history.”
This raised concerns over the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at hospitals, doctors and medical staff can be most vulnerable while treating novel coronavirus patients. On this note, a few of the health experts reiterated the deaths of medical staff in Italy who came in touch with patients while treating them.
It is known news that one doctor from the Indian Army and one from the Central Reserve Police Force have also tested positive for COVID-19 recently. Meanwhile, doctors across the country took to protests demanding the government to safeguarding the medical fraternity by providing a sufficient number of PPEs.
