The second day of the Monsoon session in Parliament on Tuesday raised a new row with the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh claiming that the Chinese government has illegally occupied over 38,000 square km of Indian land and it considers another 90,000 square km as its own.
Delivering a strong warning to China amid repeated transgressions at the Line of Actual Control, Rajnath in Lok Sabha stated that India’s armed forces are ready to deal with all contingencies in the high-altitude region.
“This included Kongka La, Gogra and North Bank of Pangong Lake. These attempts were detected early and consequently responded to appropriately by our armed forces,” said Rajnath assuring that the country is in safe hands.
However, the government refuse to open discussion over Rajnath’s statements despite repeated demands from oppositions for discussion.
Tensions ran high in the session as the Congress members staged a walkout to register their protest while the speaker refused to allow the party’s leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Chowdhury to speak. Hours after which Rahul Gandhi, who is currently abroad, shot of tweets blazing all guns at the ruling BJP.
