With the tourist traction and the reluctance towards the vaccination increasing, the collector of Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu dropped an interesting initiative. The citizen in the district from today have to produce vaccination certificates to show that they have taken two doses against COVID-19 to buy liquor in state-run TASMAC outlets.
Speaking over the same, collector J Innocent Divya said on Thursday stated that the initiative was taken up as the influx of tourists in the prominent tourist area, the Nilgiris district. “People who have been administered at least one dose of vaccine can get the liquor from the shop. They just need to show the SRF ID on their phone to the store in-charge”, she added.
She also stated that the reports revealed that a large number of people in the district are hesitant about getting vaccinated because of rumors of having adverse effects on their health because they consume liquor. However, reports showed that around 97 percent of people in the district have been vaccinated with the authorities indulging in door-to-door vaccination programs from the past few days.
