In Telangana, there are allegations that contract firms and Government officials are working as a quid pro quo. The Marriage Gate affair added strength to those allegations. Presently this incident is under discussion in the Delhi High Court. A person named Gavinolla Srinivas from Bapanakunta of Narayanapet district has filed a complaint before the Department of Personnel Training Affairs (DOPT) that the real facts should come out. He approached the Delhi High Court a few years ago objecting to the complaint being sent to the state government. The court held a hearing on September 12 and expressed its displeasure against the DOP. It has sought a report from the state government. Recently, this petition came before the bench of Justice Yashwant Verma.
Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Madhavi Diwan was present on behalf of the state government. He said that the state government has already started an investigation on this issue. He said that the inquiry report will be submitted to the court within six weeks. Justice Yashwant Verma, who intervened at this stage, asked the petitioner’s lawyer Mohit Jakhad whether there is any provision for the central government to conduct an inquiry against the IAS officers. He responded and said that the central government has the authority to allow the prosecution of officials. After hearing the arguments, the judge adjourned the case to December 23.
