The wait has finally ended for both the IPL teams in league and crores of fans waiting for IPL 2021 auction. Eight franchises were at war to bid for 292 players- 125 foreign and 164 Indian cricketers, while the highest reserve price in this auction has been fixed at Rs 2 crore.
Liam Plunkett, Shakib Al Hasan, Mark Wood, Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell are amongst the list of players in the elite club with Kedar Jadhav and Harbhajan Singh being the two Indian players.
Setting the IPL auction records straight, South African all-rounder Chris Morris stood as the most expensive IPL buy ever shelled out Rs 16.25 crore.
While Panjab Kings has given tough times for Rajasthan Royals at the bid to bag Chris, the latter has brought the player for record price making him the most expensive signing ever in IPL auctions. To recall, Yuvraj Singh was the previous expensive signing at Rs. 16 Crore by Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) in 2015.
Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell also went big and was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 14.25 crore after an intense bidding war. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with Rs 7 crore bid England all-rounder Moeen Ali, while Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 3.20 crore.
