Couple of days after miraculously joining hands with BJP in forming the government, Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharastra, got a clean chit. Sources in Anti-Corruption Bureau has revealed that the Pawar nephew got a clean chit in the much talked about irrigation scam. Political circles in the state are rife with rumours from Monday afternoon that nine cases against the former irrigation minister of Maharashtra in a Congress-Nationalist Congress Party government were closed. And the information has it that other cases on Ajit are also on the verge of being shut.
This has come as a welcome gift to Ajit from BJP’s end which shocked everyone by forming the government with overnight politics. The government has withdrawn the case filed against Ajit who faced allegations of involving in Rs 70,000 crores of corruption in irrigation projects. He faced some serious accusations of involving in corruption in the construction and clearance of various irrigation projects during the reign of Congress-NCP government. Irrigation scam was one major point of discussion during all election campaigns by the BJP. The allegations included claims that Ajit Pawar awarded projects at inflated prices. However, an official statement is yet to be made.
