The news of Ramoji Rao, the Chief Editor resigning from his longtime-serving post in leading Telugu daily ‘Eenadu’ has indeed come as a shocker to the loyal readers. The news daily on Saturday has discursively announced that the media legend is stepping down from the post of Chief Editor which he has been holding from the genesis of the news daily. The Saturday’s edition was seen with Manukonda Nageshwara Rao as Chief Editor for Andhra Pradesh and DN Prasad for Telangana. The daily has, however, stated that Ramoji would continue as the Founder & Chairman of Eenadu Group.
This revelation in the wake of restrictions over media like never before in both the Telugu states has set ripples in the media spectrum. While a few of the media heads dug into details behind the abrupt resignation, close resources revealed that age-related ailments are the main reason behind the step. They stated that Ramoji was not participating in the organisational activities like before. After which he decided to step down from the main responsibilities. However, a few of the media analysts have another story. They claimed that the series of court cases on him forced to take the decision. Grapevine has it that, Ramoji’s team has suggested him step down to snub these long-pending court cases owing to his age. If this is believed to be true, will Ramoji resign for the remaining main roles, transferring the responsibilities to his son Kiran and daughter-in-law Sailaja Kiran?
