The main Opposition which ought to stand by the common man and raise voice against the atrocities of the government seems to give up. Though Congress announced their support to the Million March along with the other Oppositions, neither did the leaders come out in protest, nor did they convey their support on media.
Though the government deployed heavy security line across the city, the protesting employees, union & opposition leaders and the Osmania students reached the venue, Tank Bund. While the protestors tried in barge into the vicinity of the restricted areas, the police fired tear gas to disperse the mob which resulted in high tension.
BJP activists and leaders too joined hands with the protesting employees, raising slogans against the government. BJP MP Bandi Sanjay who challenged the police that he would reach Tank Band at any cost has reached the protest venue on Saturday along with and MLC Ramchandra Rao.
The main opposition Congress, however, was nowhere seen. While some of the senior Congress leaders gave house arrested as the excuse, the other leaders and activists failed to support the workers in the active protest. Neither the PCC President, the CLP leaders nor the former ministers were spotted in the protest which raised speculations. This also received a backlash from the employee unions.
