Three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Yuva Morcha general secretary Fida Hussain Yatoo was shot dead in an attack late on Thursday by the suspected terrorists.
Preliminary investigation revealed that terrorists open fire on three BJP workers, identified as Fida Hussain Yatoo, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam while they were travelling in a car.
Police who received the information received information about a terror crime incident at village YK Pora confirmed that one leader was dead the spot while the other two were critically injuring who breathed their last as they were being rushed to a hospital in Qazigund.
The Resistance Front (TRF), which is believed to be a shadow group of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack. In a message in English and Hindi on its social media account, the TRF said: “crematoriums will get overbooked”.
The police have registered a case of murder. The area has been cordoned off and search for the terrorists is on, they said. Various political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to condemn the attack.

It can be noted that several BJP workers have been killed in terrorist attacks in the last few months. Eight leaders were killed so far.
