Chennai: With Indian cinema is a row of biopics, it ended up at Tamil Nadu former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. A couple of directors have already announced the projects over the dynamic leader’s life, while Kangana’s ‘Thalaivi’ is one of them. As a twist in the tale, J Deepa, the niece of Jayalalithaa moved the Madras High Court seeking to restrain the release of biopics on her aunt’s life. In a petition filed by Deepa, she has stated that being a legal heir of Jayalalitha her consent has not been obtained for making the movies. On this note, she has also sought a ban on the biopics. This would now directly effect two films directed by AL Vijay & Vishnu Vardhan Induri and a web series from Gowtham Vasudev Menon.
Claiming that she is a part of the legendary actress and political’s life, Deepa objected the that films can’t be made without incorporating her association. ‘There is a possibility that they show my aunt in a bad light. These are purely commercial ventures without my consent,” she added. Titled ‘Thalaivi’ in Tamil and ‘Jaya’ in Hindi, AL Vijay is directing the movie with Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut in the lead. The web series, on the other hand, directed by Gautham Menon, is titled ‘Queen’ stars Ramya Krishnan.
