Shri. Narendra Modi Ji
The Honourable Prime Minister of India
Most Respected Sir,
Sub: Kidnap and attempt to murder of my husband Raghu Ganji, Journalist – Reg
My husband, Raghu Ganji, Journalist, was kidnapped on 3rd June morning, by some unknown persons at Malkajgiri of Hyderabad.
He was caught on the road, dragged and dumped into a car. A mask was thrust on his face and his hands and feet were tied.
The car proceeded fast from Malkajgiri and on the way Raghu was shifted into another car after sometime. It is understood that the kidnappers were hand-in-glove with Nalgonda district police.
Thanks to the alertness of onlookers at Malkajgiri, the news of kidnap had gone viral and the Nalgonda police were forced to produce my husband in Huzurnagar court by the same evening.
(The video showing the kidnap is posted for kind perusal along with this prayer)
While the car was proceeding from Hyderabad to Huzurnagar, the kidnappers repeatedly warned my husband not to cover the land grabbing activities by those in power in Telangana and by their henchmen and also swindling of thousands of crores of rupees in irrigation project works by way of undue escalation of cost.
The following are the issues being actively investigated by my husband :-
Illegal encroachment of over thousand acres of Evacuee land at Puppalaguda, Hyderabad
Illegal encroachment of over 500 acres of IDPL / Hinduja / Gulfoil land at Kukatpally, Hyderabad
Illegal encroachment of nearly 43 acres of land near IKEA, Hitech-city, Hyderabad
Loot under the garb of projects
Loot of corporate hospitals in the time of COVID
The kidnap episode reflects on the state of law and order in Telangana.
Even after my husband was imprisoned in Huzurnagar jail, the authorities have foisted new cases against him and he was shifted to Nalgonda District Jail. The very idea in doing so is to stall his chances to get bail.
The cases, if genuine, could have, at best, been filed for mere defamation but the government has chosen to file criminal cases not only to stall his bail but also to terrorise any journalist or citizen to speak truth.
My husband’s life is in utmost danger in Telangana state where journalists and general public do not have minimum civil rights. His is a classic case of maximum misuse of police machinery by the unholy combine of land grabbers, contractors and big wigs in the government.
I therefore request your kind self to take the issue with all the urgency it deserves to protect the rights of pro-people journalists like Raghu Ganji and see that he is released from illegal confinement at the earliest.
With the sincere belief that you will be kind enough to initiate measures from your end to ensure his release forthwith and safeguard the civil rights of the people, particularly journalists in the state of Telangana so that this tyranny should not continue as a trend unchecked.
