Vijayawada: Justice JK Maheshwari who was appointed as the first Chief Justice of the recently bifurcated Andhra Pradesh High Court took charge on Monday. The ceremony took place at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada while Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan administered the oath. Amidst the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, lawyers and officials Justice JK Maheshwari replacing the acting Chief Justice C. Praveen Kumar. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was earlier working as a senior judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court. His elevation to this post was proposed by the Supreme Court Collegium in its resolution dated August 22, 2019. He newly sworn CJ has made darshan of the Goddess at Sri Kanaka Durga temple along with his family members seeking blessing for his tenure.
