It was one of the poll promises made by the YSRCP which played a crucial role in the success of the party. Kadapa steel plant again stood in the headlines as the Chief Minister on Monday laid the foundation stone for the project at the Jammalamaduga Mandalam Sunnupuramalpalle. CM Jagan laid the foundation in an official pooja ceremony accompanied by Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy and Jammalamadugu MLA Dr Sudhir Reddy.
Speaking at the public event, Jagan stated that the project would be completed within three years with the support of the central government. He then took no qualms to lash out on TDP and its chief Chandrababu Naidu for deliberately delaying the project. On this note, the Chief Minister thanked the Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel, Dharmendra Pradan for sanctioning necessary permissions. He also promised that they would bring a law which allocates 75 per cent of jobs in the plant for the locals. The steel plant which already witnessed two foundation ceremonies previously in Rajasekhar Reddy and Chandrababu’s tenures is likely to manufacture 30 lakh tons a year.
