A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the land acquisition of the Kaleswaram project. Court ordered to continue status quo on land acquisition. It has been announced that the final inquiry will be held on August 23. In the meantime, the state government has ordered to file a counter. It also made it clear that the petitioners should also file a rejoinder.
Regarding compensation, land acquisition, and resettlement issues, 6 separate petitions were filed in the Supreme Court. The court took up all of them for hearing on the 22nd of this month. In this order, the Supreme Court has issued notices to the Center and the States. After the latest investigation, it has been clarified that the final investigation will be held on August 23.
On June 21, 2019, CM KCR dedicated the Kaleshwaram project to the nation. Pranahita Chevella’s project design was changed and named as Kaleswaram Project. However, some farmers have filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that if the project expands, their lands will be flooded.
