Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who recently announced his retirement from international cricket is set to don yet another new hat. While the World Cup-winning skipper along with his wife Sakshi launched his own film production house, is now all set to farm famous black ‘Kadaknath’ chickens at his organic poultry unit.
The Captain cool has reportedly has ordered for 2,000 chicks of Kadaknath breed which originally from Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh. Sources confirmed that the order will be delivered to Dhoni’s Ranchi by December 15.
This particular breed of Black Chicken variety that comes from Bheelanchal region of Madhya Pradesh is considered to be the most nutritious in the country. The order was placed with a poultry farmer named Vinod Medha, a resident of Thandla village of the Jhabua district.
Internet of late, has seen an unexpected rush searching for this variant of chicken which is recognised for its delicious taste with black blood and black flesh. The famous Kadaknath chicken meat from Jhabua had also got GI tag in 2018 after a legal battle with Chhattisgarh.
The farmers of tribal-dominated Jhabua district of MP’s Bheelanchal region are now are now gushing over the unexpected demand for their variant followed by the acknowledgement from the Captain Cool himself.
It can be noted that Dhoni’s team was also involved in dairy farming through Sahiwal breed cows and fish farming, as well as duck and poultry farming at the same organic farm spread across 43 acres of land.
