Post a humiliating defeat in parliamentary elections in the hands of Dharmapuri Arvind, son of senior leader DS, Kavita started restraining herself from the limelight. Despite speculations the party supremo is likely to send Kavita to Rajya Sabha, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) clearing Kavitha’s nomination for the council by-election scheduled for April 7 sent discursive signals that Kavitha wants to play a crucial role in state politics itself.
If Kavitha, one of the potential successor of Kalvakuntla political legacy wins the council by-elections that will be held when the lockdown, that would be a new turn in the Telangana politics especially with Kalvakuntla circle. Going by the results of the recent local body elections, the council by-election is a sure victory for the TRS nominee with the support of its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
If Kavitha fathoms victory, political analysts foresaw an in-house rivalry amongst, K.T. Rama Rao who is now considered to be number two in TRS and T. Harish Rao, who is known to be a popular and down-to-earth leader with strong roots in the statehood movement.
Kavitha will expect a post in her father’s cabinet and a valuable portfolio, just like her brother and her cousin. A strong army of followers under the Telangana Jagruti, a non-profit cultural outfit which Kavitha is now rebuilding will add strength to her decision of making a power-packed comeback.
