Though he fizzled out his fans and political enthusiast stayed away from contesting in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, South Indian Superstar Kamal Haasan on Monday made a few really interesting announcements.
Refuting the speculations as baseless, the renowned actor who launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) announced that he would contest in the Assembly polls of Tamil Nadu.
Addressing the media in Madurai on Monday, the actor added that the name of the constituency he would contest will be announced later. However, political circles went rife with speculations that Kamal would choose to contest from Chennai, a city where he has a recent fan base.
When asked about forging alliances with Rajinikanth’s who is expected to flag his own party, Kamal stated that December 31st would be the right day to talk about it. Kamal also added that he would soon announce a third front alliance shortly.
Meanwhile, reports over All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) joining hands with Kamal floated on Tamil Nadu local media. Party supremo Asaduddin Owaisi holding his party office-bearers of Tamil Nadu on the assembly elections added strength to the speculations.
It can be noted that DMK and AIADMK have the Muslim vote despite the state having several Mulsim-centric parties in the state including Indian National League, Indian Union Muslim League, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi, Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi, All India Muslim League, Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath.
