Protests against the master plan are continuing in Kamareddy. The Kamareddy Bandh will continue as per the call of the Rythu Aikya Action Committee against the Master Plan. Police were deployed at every step of the town to prevent any incidents during the bandh in view of the farmers’ agitation at the Collectorate which turned into a battleground with tensions.
The leaders of many parties were placed under house arrest in advance to prevent agitations. However, due to the master plan, farmers’ agitations that the government is trying to include 2 thousand 170 acres of cultivated land in the industrial zone in 8 villages in the surrounding areas of Kamareddy Municipal Corporation have led to severe tensions.
Rythu Ramulu of Adlur Ellareddy committed suicide two days ago while protesting against the Master Plan under the auspices of the Rythu Eyyakaryacharana Committee. This incident seems to have given more fuel to the concerns. Farmers from 8 villages along with their family members organized a huge rally yesterday demanding that the government withdraw this proposal as the farmer committed suicide because of the master plan. Later, when he went to give the petition to Collector Jitesh V Patil, he was stopped by the police near the collectorate. This made the situation tense.
With the Kamareddy town’s bandh, the vehicles are no longer on the roads. Businesses are closed. In the morning, when many BJP leaders tried to hold a rally, the police stopped them and detained them. On the other hand, Congress and BJP announced their support for farmers’ agitation. In the afternoon, some BJP leaders including Bandi Sanjay visited Kamareddy and met the family of the deceased farmer.
