With the announcement of Amaravati as the state capital, the traffic gridlock has been drastically increasing with passing days. To mitigate this, the then government has taken up two major flyovers, one is at the Kanaka Durga temple and one across the Benz circle. While the Kanaka Durga flyover which started its works in 2015 is ought to finish the construction by December 2019, the officials seem to miss yet another deadline. In a recent review meeting of Roads and Buildings department on Monday with the Chief Minister, officials have reportedly urged for one more month of time. After missing the deadline for multiple times, the officials promised the chief minister that they will complete the project by the end of January 2020.
The Chief Minister also has issued ordered to release Rs 625 crore for the repairs and has instructed the officials to identify damaged roads in the state and to repair them on priority base. Around 680 bridges lying in a decrepit state will be brought under the NDB project. The government has also decided to increase the assistance from Rs 6,400 crore to Rs 8,800 crore. The CM also accepted proposals to replace 3,600 buses in RTC that have travelled more 12 lakh km.
