With a thumping victory in 12 constitutions, BJP flag flew high in Karnataka state post the announcement of by-poll results. While by-elections took place in 15 segments a week ago, the saffron party has taken up a lead in 12 seats, pushing the JD(S) to zero. The other senior party Congress bagged just two seats and an independent candidate wins one seat. The elections became crucial to BJP as it was at the slightest difference in the number of seats in assembly and needed at least six seats to prove the majority in Karnataka. BJP has however managed to remain in majority in almost all the constituencies making the victory obvious as many of the leaders started celebrating halfway through.
On the other hand, a series of resignations followed by taking the responsibility including Congress leader Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao. Sources revealed that independent candidate and BJP rebel Sharath Kumar Bachi Gowda, who won Hoskote constituency, likely to join back the saffron party.
