The increasing cases with each passing day have stood as a major challenge for Kerala government which reportedly has more number of Indian students who study in Wuhan. While the virus tends to turn strong, Kerala government on Monday declared coronavirus as a state calamity. Hours after Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja confirmed the third case in the state, the state authorities have declared the outbreak to be a state disaster with about 2,239 persons exhibiting symptoms of the epidemic. According to the reports, out of the 2,239 people who apparently exhibited the symptoms, 84 are in hospital observation while 2,155 in home quarantine.

The Disaster Management Authority’s apex committee on Monday called for an emergency meeting headed by Chief Secretary Tom Jose, after which an official announcement was made in the media meet. With the recent disaster declaration made, the government state that the hospitals in the state in coordination with the health department will step up regarding the measures to be taken to control the disease effectively. On this note, health ministry stated that Corona control rooms were set up at all the district headquarters and a facility has been set up at the Institute of Virology Alappuzha for testing samples.
The third case was registered at Kanjangad District Hospital in Kasaragod while the samples sent tested positive on Monday. Followed by the government’s orders, the hospital authorities confirmed that all three patients are under treatment with stable health conditions. The government also instructed everyone to be alert in the coming days as the virus tend to turn stronger.
