Joining the trend of sports dramas and biopics in Tollywood, writer and producer Kona Venkat today announced a biopic on Olympic medal winner Karanam Malleswari. On the occasion of the weightlifter’s birthday on Monday, MVV Cinema and Kona Film Corporation banners announced the film which would be directed by ’Rajagaadu’ fame Sanjana Reddy.
While the main lead of the film is yet to be revealed, the film is announced to be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. Taking on the occasion, producer and writer for the film Kona Venkat said that Karnam Malleswari was initially a little scared when she was informed about the biopic.
“Though she was reluctant, Malliswari flew down to Hyderabad from Delhi three months ago to share the untold side of her childhood and the journey to the Olympics,” he added. On this nite, Kona revealed that Malleswari was approached by many Bollywood filmmakers for her biopic, however, the first female Olympic medallist from India also aired to train the female lead in weight lifting for the film.
