Municipal minister KT Rama Rao along with transport minister P Ajay Kumar flagged off the Metro service from the Hi-Tec City station on Friday. Inaugurating the most-awaited shortest route with more passenger traffic, KTR along with the ministers, Chief Secretary SK Joshi, Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar and Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy took the first ride in the route up to Rayadurgam stop. The official handle of Telangana IT, Industries and Municipal Administration Minister shared the news while KTR re-tweeted it.
KTR on Thursday announced the launch of the stretch and said the Metro was carrying about four lakh passengers per day and the 1.5 km stretch would add another 40,000 commuters initially and cover more IT establishments. This inaugural event coincided with the second anniversary of Hyderabad Metro Rail which was taken up on a prestigious note by the Telangana government to mitigate the deadlocked traffic issue in the city.
