Hours after the SpiceJet and GoAir followed the roll of the ban after IndiGo and Air India, stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra took to his YouTube channel to hit back the news in his very own way. Claimed to be a video statement to all the airlines which announced a suspension from flying, Kunal put together all the past videos of Arnab’s Republic personnel heckling the politicians in many instances. The 12-minute video also covered the story of Rohit Vemula and his fight for justice. “This video explains my side of the story. The emotions did, of course, get the better of me. But if I didn’t emote, I’d never be able to forgive myself,” read the message he posted along with the video.
Kunal Kamra, a stand-up comedian who frequently criticises the government and denounces its communal policies, happened to share the flight journey with Arnab. After which Kunal posted a 1 minute 51 seconds video on his social media channels which has Kunal trying to get Arnab to respond in a way reminiscent of a Republic TV debate. Known to be one of the staunch right-wing BJP supporters, Arnab in the video was seen turning a deaf ear to Kunal’s questions over Rohit Vemula’s issue. Calling Arnab a coward, Kunal was seen constantly persuading Arnab to reply. The issue soon turned into a storm with airline services one by one announcing suspension to fly Kunal. However, after facing some backlash on social media for his act, the stand-up comedian did issue a statement apologising to the fellow passengers for the inconvenience caused but refused to apologise to Arnab.
