Known to be one of the firebrand actresses in the South Indian film industry, Kushbu Sunder calls it quits to the microblogging site Twitter on Tuesday. The national spokesperson of the Congress party revealed that the ongoing negativity on Twitter forced her to deactivate her account which has over a million followers. Known for ably putting down the trolls and negativity, the actor-turned-politician has shocked the netizens with her decision. In an interview given to a renowned news website, the actress claimed that the negativity on Twitter was consuming her. She also added that she was fed up of being a target of sexist and Islamophobic abuse on the platform. “I had to keep my sanity intact. I am not somebody who quits because of the trolls. For me, as a person, I needed to remain who I am.”
When asked about the other leaders being available for citizens over social media, Kushbu stated that neither the leaders nor the voters contact her on Twitter. “Though the platform helps me in sharing my thoughts, it is just a notion that we get disconnected to the real world without social media,” she added. However, the actress’s Instagram account is still active.
