Telangana government has once again taken a key decision. It has been decided to collect funds for various welfare schemes and projects in the state. To this extent, it is expected to collect Rs 13,000 crore through the regularization of sales and encroachment of government lands in the state. The government has conducted an auction for the sale of Rajiv Swagriha flats in the Pocharam and Bandlaguda areas.
The unused government land in the Greater Hyderabad area is being sold by auction. In the financial year 2022-23, Rs 6,900 crore has been collected while setting a target of Rs 10,000 crore for the sale of land. Chief Secretary Shantikumari focused on increasing non-tax revenue by selling land. Recently, the ministerial sub-committee had a meeting with officials of the district collectors, revenue, finance, stamp and registration, and other departments as part of this program. The unused government lands have already been identified by the District Collectors. It seems that there is a possibility of selling them.
The government is already taking steps to control the encroachment of government land at market value under GO-59. About 14 thousand applications are pending with the government in this regard.
