K Parasaran, this might be a less known name for many but for the ones who followed the Ayodhya legal fight at the apex court, the 92-year-old former Attorney General’s expertise is quite familiar. In his splendid legal career spanning over six decades, Parasaran’s knowledge of the Indian Constitution and ancient dharma has been praised by various senior lawyers.
The legendary lawyer’s name is now sending chills for Jagan-led government that has been waging a legal battle with Amaravati farmer in state High Court. While the YSRCP state government roped in famous advocate Harish Salve to fight the 3 capital bill in the Supreme Court, Amaravati farmers who were in search for a fitting reply reportedly ended up meeting Parasaran in New Delhi.
Sources revealed that Parasaran who was moved by the relentless fight of the farmers accepted to take up the case. Known for his humility, Parasaran was learnt to accept the case just at a nominal charge of Rs 1-which has been receiving respects from all prisms.
Since 2016, Parasaran’s appearances in court have been rare. He has only picked two cases after that – the Sabarimala case and the Ayodhya dispute. Currently, Parasaran’s son is taking up the arguments on behalf of farmers and it can be noted that the latest verdict came in favour of farmers.
In yet another speculation, Harish Salve was said to be a return gift from Reliance Industries to YSRCP government for giving Rajya Sabha seat for Amabani’s close aide Parimal Nathwani.
