All the guidelines and relaxations on one side…”when will the wine shops open..?” has been the only concern for many booze lovers across the country. In the line of almost 40 days of anticipation, Centre has allowed liquor sale from Monday which came as a blessing for the tipplers.
Andhra Pradesh government which has been an iron fist over liquor sales in the state has shocked everyone with its decision to permit retail alcohol outlets to open up in both rural and urban areas, including in the red zones of the state. In the line of the orders issued in the wake of the third lockdown extension, the outlets will open from 11 AM to 7 PM.
According to a press release from the AP government on Sunday, the sale personnel wearing masks is made compulsorily, allowing only five inside at a time, displaying guidelines promptly outside the stores and also informing the local police in case excess customers gather in front of any shop.
Followed by which, all the retail stores across the state witnessed tipplers thronging from the early hours itself, while a few places like Golagamudi saw kilometres long queues. Social media flooded with videos and pictures of people at the mad rush for the alcohol despite the state government increasing the liquor price by 25 per cent.
