Logging a constant dip in corona cases, the Indian states and union territories in the last 24 hours registered 55,342 new COVID cases. With this, India recorded its lowest Covid-19 cases in 63 days since 51,296 cases recorded on August 10th.
According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, the total caseload of the country by Tuesday touched 71,75,881. The total cases include 8,38,729 active cases while 55,86,704 patients cured/discharged/migrated-pushing up India’s recovery rate to 86.8 per cent.

Meanwhile, 706 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 1,09,856. The Covid death rate in India, which has been reporting between 800 and 900 deaths a day since early August, is 1.5 per cent. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu continued to dominate the list of states with maximum daily coronavirus cases.
Telangana logged 1,708 new cases, taking the tally to 2.14 lakh while five more deaths pushed the toll to 1,233, a government bulletin said on Tuesday providing data as of 8 PM on October 12. Andhra Pradesh on Monday reported only 3,224 new coronavirus cases, the lowest single-day spike since July 18. The total fatalities reached to 6,256 with 32 new deaths in theist 24 hours.
