With as many as 17 ministers’ whisking away from the state, the political scenarios in Madhya Pradesh heated up. The leaders who were rumoured to be the loyalists of Jyotiraditya Scindia who has been the centre of all the political crisis, appeared in Bengaluru, signalling an exodus from the government that has a slim majority.
In a recent revelation, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the son of senior politician Madhavrao Scindia met with BJP bigwigs Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. This development during the ongoing political crisis in the state seems to signal his entry into BJP. Scindia meeting Modi-Shah came right on the heels of Congress’ interim President Sonia Gandhi calling for an emergency meeting with the Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
While elections for three Rajya Sabha seats was scheduled to take place on March 26th, poaching was reportedly on full swing. A political crisis loomed the state while almost 20 ministers offered resignations quoting loss of faith in Kamal Nath’s government as the reason. According to the sources, Scindia is in continuous contact with BJP high command who reportedly offered Rajya Sabha seat with BJP quota.
All the BJP prominent leaders including BJP President JP Nadda and former CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan were seen rushing to Delhi residence of Home Minister Amit Shah from Monday night. It is believed that BJP can bring a no-confidence motion against the Kamal Nath government at the beginning of the assembly session.
