On the Nation’s Constitutional day, the Supreme Court’s verdict came as a breath to both the democracy and the ‘Maha’ alliance. The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress heaved a sigh of relief with the verdict which came a couple days after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the state’s chief minister with the support of Ajit Pawar. Upholding the faith in democracy, the Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered for a floor test to be conducted in the Maharashtra Assembly within 24 hours. In the line of the verdict, the floor test will have to be held by 5 pm on Wednesday, through the open ballot and will be telecast live. The court also stated that a pro-tem speaker will swear in the newly-elected lawmakers.
All the leaders of ‘Maha’ alliances welcomed the Supreme Court’s call who took to social media to share their faith in democracy. While the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance claim to have the support of about 162 MLAs, the NCP leaders who strode to New Delhi are heading back one after other. Meanwhile, hashtags like #WeAre162, #FloorTest and #WeAre420 started trending on social media. On the other hand, sources have it that the alliance is on serious plans to sought stay on ACB’s move to close cases against Ajit Pawar.
