Thick smoke clouded the Kakinada port area as a huge fire broke out on Kakinada Beach Road in East Godavari district. The fire that broke out in the GMR power plant was not in operation for the last five years. According to the eye-witness, the fire broke out during the process of dismantling the plant.
The officials at the plant confirmed that the timely action of the firefighters and staff averted a massive blast who are now bringing the flames under control. No casualties were reported. GMR officials are reluctant to reveal any information pertaining to the fire.
