The news that West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee called on for a meeting with Modi has stirred the national politics of late. The call came close on the heels with the dynamic leader’s statement in the assembly that she would boycott the Sonia-convened anti-CAA protest in Delhi on January 13th. While the Prime Minister will be in the state for a two-day visit including the 150th anniversary of the Kolkata Port Trust on January 12, West Bengal secretariat is rife with speculations that the two leaders would meet for a secluded meet at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
It is to the known knowledge that Union water transport minister Mansukh Mandaviya has personally met Mamta and invited her to share the stage at the event. Though a senior TMC confirmed that Didi-Modi duo a scheduled to hold a long secluded meet, the agenda of the meeting between Modi and Banerjee was not disclosed. This meeting took prominence amidst TMC’s active role in a number of protests against CAA, the new citizenship law.
