Chandigarh: Leading the BJP-JJP (Jannayak Janata Party) coalition government, Manohar Lal Khattar took oath as the Haryana chief minister at a simple ceremony on Sunday. While the JJP leader Dushyant Chautala assumed the office as the Deputy Chief Minister, Haryana witnessed the first non-Congress government at the helm for the second consecutive term. In a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan that lasted for less than 10 mins, no other minister has taken the oath which was expected to be held any time soon. Speaking to the media ahead of the ceremony, Kattar stated that his government will stick to the promises made of being transparent and will remain loyal to the citizen. After the ceremony the senior leader made a visit to Mansa Devi temple along with his family and a few other leaders.
The ceremony was attended by a bevy of senior leaders including Dushyant’s father Ajay Chautala, who was released from the Tihar Jail. Dushyant’s mother and second-time legislator Naina Chautala also attended her son’s swearing ceremony. On this note, Kattar announced that his government will be formed with a total of 57 MLAs, 40 of the BJP, 10 of the JJP and seven Independents.
